I was fortunate enough to be under Mrs Carmichaels care when i was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2024. At every point she gave me much needed reassurance and confidence in her and the process i was going through. Her listening, care and professionalism far exceeded duty and felt warm and genuine. This was very important to me at such a challenging time. My lumpectomy and SLNB surgery and outcome have been a success and were inline with her assurances and I am happy with my end cosmetic result. I cannot thank Mrs Carmichael enough for what she has done for me, my 2 young children and my family, and i will never forget her.

In one word, Mrs Carmichael is exceptional. She has been my consultant surgeon on 2 separate occasions of breast cancer performing a single mastectomy and then a further wide local excision on the same side in 2021 and 2024 respectively. She is kind, empathetic, approachable, knowledgeable and an expert in her field. I have 100% trust and confidence in her abilities and can't thank her enough for the care and attention she has given to me over the last 4 years. An exceptional surgeon, leaving me with nothing but beautiful scars, reassurance and going through a wonderful experience despite it being during a difficult time with facing two breast cancer diagnosis. Dr Carmichael was very informative about my surgery, she put me at ease with any worries I had no matter how silly or small they were, she was very warm and caring and I totally trusted her with my surgery 100% . At my checkup she was very gentle and again put my worries to bed , I am very happy I had Dr Carmichael as my surgeon, she genuinely cares for you .

I had originally booked to have my care at Royal Derby Hospital but after meeting Mrs Carmichael at my 2 week wait appointment at RDH, I changed to Queens Hospital Burton, where she is based in order to remain under her care. My breast cancer diagnosis was a total shock but she was so compassionate and caring and gave me faith that I could overcome this. As a nurse and midwife I have worked in the NHS for 42 years so I totally understand NHS pressures. However, this didn't impact on the care I received from Mrs Carmichael which was incredible. So professional in every way and I felt listened to and confident in her care. I have had amazing care and treatment so far and thanks to Mrs Carmichael I am feeling positive and hopeful for the future. Myself and my family will be eternally grateful to Mrs Carmichael for her skill, professionalism and caring approach.

Mrs Carmichael from our first meeting was professional but caring. The process from the first appointment to my post surgery appointment was very quick and the information given to me was easy for me to understand and any questions I had were answered. I felt very safe that she was going to look after me during my surgery and this has been the case. Mrs Carmichael also has a great team supporting her and her patients at the Breast clinic at Queens Hospital Burton.
